Thanks for the clips, especially the unedited original episode, so that I could confirm what I didn't believe I was seeing.
What the hell ! What did they do with the rope ?
Please tell me, that mainstream TV (in whatever country) hasn't started using crappy AI for it's hanging stunts.

Since India has all but dried up, AI is all that remains to us (no it wasn't AI just the crappiest stunt imaginable).

propaganda movies still got pretty high quality. One such was released earler this year. Named 'Azad Bharath (Liberated India)'. Its the story puportedly of one Neera Arya, a legionary (yup, a full combat trained soldier) in INA and a spy against the govt. She is supposed to have killed her husband who a govt agent. She was tried for murder and sentenced to transportation for life [KAALA-PAANI], which is like, next worse thing to a death penalty. And according to stories they cut off her breasts [yes, thats her lore, like every saint has a specific gruesome sacrifice story]
So, the movie is on ZEE5, and from trailer I can see pretty high quality scenes [don't expect a hanging though]

May be not in the hanging scene, but they have used AI in the show. Rajni was an iconic and pioneering TV show in India aired in 1985 for only 26 episodes. This one is the recent reboot trying to live off the stellar fame of the original show which became a cultural phenomenon back then. The orginal actress Priya Tendulkar (Rajni) died way back in 2002. In the current show the protagonist is shown as her (Rajni's) daughter. Somehow the original Rajni (Priya Tendulkar) appears as her spirit and guides the current protagonist.
in the same episode look at 00:13:32, the spirit of mommy, i.e. Rajni walks in. That actress has been dead for 24 years now and this show has been made this very year.

Well, to be honest, the well has dried up for hanging scenes. And AI usage is meag crap in Indian serials. Cant expect more for these fools.

To clarify my too stenographic (and therefore cryptic) post:

1. since june 2025 there has been a dramatic change in India: hanging scenes have almost completely vanished, no suicide dramas and what remains has been filmed in such sloppy way to make it unpalatable. My theory is the indian broadcasting authorities must have issued some blanket ban on the subject. P.S.: India was the last active mine, all others having gone dead long ago.

2. With the current hyper censored tools AI hangings are difficult for images (post work in image editors is mandatory) and practically impossible for videos (Aristarchus examples are the apex of what one is allowed to do); this also applies to professional work.

Maybe, a huge maybe, in the future, with locally running open source LLMs and a liberal use of LoRAs, the situation will improve but I am not holding my breath (pun intended).

I don't think it is a censorship issue. The hangings were pretty rare earlier, when the stories used to be stronger. The wealth of postings here we had in past few years were actually accumulations of 30 years. The best hangings actually come from movies which can afford proper sets. The tv serial hangings have always been of low quality. their best bet is to keep it short and leave things to imagination.
Having said that, a fad started in 2014 of prolonged murder trial culminating in aborted hangings. The murder trials involving the protagonists were pretty stock trope of soaps even before but most ended in acquitals or prison sentences. Hanging scenes if at all, were from dream sequences. 'Uttaran' in 2014 changed that. they ran weeks long drama about it and actually showed deathrow and hanging. Between 2014 and 2023 almost every year we had at least one TV soap having a weeks long trial capped by a near aborted hanging. The premies kept getting ever more ludicruous. The peak was 2020 when 'Yeh hain chhahatein' delved into a deathrow plot mere 3 weeks after launching. Next year they sent the same protagonist to gallows once again for another murder charge again to be saved at the last moment. in between she also received a life sentence on another murder charge. All the while working as a gynecologist and a housewife in an upper class family, married to a RockStar. Then there was an odia TV soap that copied the exact same idiotic plot. They too did two hangings in two years. In short the industry milked the trope dry. And apart from 'Yeh Hai mohabbatein (2016)' all of them were crappy at various levels. no proper jail cells, no proper gallows (one of them arranged it by putting cloth over a table), no proper ceremonies, cheesy dialogs.
That fad has died. at least in Hindi Tv industry. But the south Indian TV is yet to exploit this. during these years they had only 2, so the scope is there. They do a lot of wip scenes but for some reason they have been conservative with the gallows.
While the hanging scenes may still keep coming, the quality is not going to come back. at least in TV. this is because of major social change. 2016 saw arrival of cheap mobile internet. Now everyone is hooked to youtube and ott content. The housewives, the prime target of these soap operas are now watching 'daily vlogs (where a family broadcasts their daily routine)', and the younger folks don't watch these shows. Now their audience has shifted to poorer, rural, religious people. since the audience is poorer, the ad revenue is slim. so their budget has shrunk and audience got dumb enough to not discern fall in quality. Thats the main reason behind crappy scenes these days.

The recent trend is hanging nightmare while the protagonist is under trial, or from crime serieses. we had plenty of these last year. You'll keep having these for some time. And the major issue with these few second long hanging in dream is that they are incredibly hard to find, unless you watch the show, which hardly anyone on this forum does. and no one can watch them all. earlier when they built naticipation over an upcoming hanging over weeks, everyone knew long before the event. now they come and go without anyone knowing. we findout only when niche youtubers post clips online.

however, the stoppage of low quality pipeline might just be the case of one door closing. The crimes by women are rising with progress. recent years show several high profile cases where newlywed girls from upper middle class families murdered their husbands. and there were in the wake weeks long deeply misogynistic online campaigns demanding their hanging. while the actual murderers remain unlikely to hang, the public bloodlust is sure to be exploited in movies and tv serieses. You will see in future high quality hanging scenes in movies. Again, the gold lies buried in less popular movies. Jawan (2023) shattered an old taboo by showing a complete hanging of a main characater. I'm a little disappointed that, this blockbuster movie has not yet seen copycats. But the volcano is still active. Don't lose hope.
