Forum Home > Public : Images > ai attempt - 18th century scene: the last fruit of the Tyburn TreeTrying to recreate a scene from the mid 1700s: The last culprit to be publicly hanged was a woman: Catharine Knowland in June 1759. I found no details about her apart from her name, so i tried out, what AI can do, based on my knowledge of fashion in the 18th century in general and the usual procedure at this time and place acccording to the sources.
What makes this case special is the fact, that the Tyburn Tree is about to be disassembled at the time and the crossbeams are already removed. So the unfortunate woman was hanged to one of the remaining upright poles to dance the Tyburn jig:
“When she came to Tyburn, all the Cross-Beams were pulled down; so she was tied up on the Top of one of the upright Posts, and hung with her Back to it.” (London Public Advertiser, Tuesday, June 19, 1759.)
